Pilbara Mesquite Management Strategy (2014-17)
The Pilbara Mesquite Management Strategy (PMMS) (2014-2017) sets the direction for the management of mesquite (Prosopis spp.) within the Pilbara bioregion under the guidance of the Pilbara Mesquite Management Committee (PMMC).
The PMMS is a high level document, guiding general direction for both public and private investment and effort. It is not an operational plan intended to guide the treatment of mesquite on a year to year basis. It provides strategic objectives and describes actions required to move towards the achievement of the objectives over the course of a four year period (the term of the document).
Upper Fortescue River Collaborative Parkinsonia
This plan is developed to guide the future management of the declared weed parkinsonia (Parkinsonia aculeata) in the Upper Fortescue River. This infestation is small in size and limited in its distribution, and is discrete from all other parkinsonia within the Pilbara. This infestation has a perfect opportunity to be eradicated in the medium term, and this plan is designed to guide the annual programs requirements needed to achieve this goal.
Situation Statement: the ‘prickle bush’ weeds (mesquite, parkinsonia and prickly acacia) in Western Australia
The purpose of this situation statement is to describe the distribution, impact and current management of Mesquite, Parkinsonia and Prickly acacia in the Rangelands of WA. It also identifies the major stakeholders for these weeds.
The situation statement provides a ‘snapshot’ of the prickle bush weeds and their management, and will lead to the development of state-level management and response plans for these weeds.
