mesquite infestations in the pilbara Back
The best perspective of the swarms of mesquite in the Pilbara are seen from the air. The range of habitats in which we have mesquite proliferating is enormous, ranging from salt encroached sites (infestations encroaching on sand dunes, dense populations on small islands surrounded by tidal mud flats and plants growing adjacent to and within mangrove systems) to the open floodplains of the major river systems of the West Pilbara. Whilst plants may only proliferate to monocultures on the highest potential land systems, the isolated plants and small infestations are the highest risk of widespread encroachment into the clean environment.
